Booking system | A booking chart for the following calendar year is circulated in agreed priority order during the autumn and before the owners’ annual meeting in November, where the bookings for the next year are confirmed. Each owner has a priority for that year, and moves up a couple of places each year: after a year at the top of the list, the owner then starts at the bottom, and after six years the cycle begins again. Each owner can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight) in the ‘high season’ (April to October inclusive), and one week in the remainder of the year. By this route, thirty-six weeks are firmly booked before the year begins. Allowing for time for winter maintenance, the remaining fourteen weeks are booked with priority in reverse order to the original chart. |
Priority for school holidays | A maximum of THREE shares may elect to have school holiday preference. Current NONE have taken up this option (Correct 2019) |
General Comments About the Boat
Sometimes is a semi-traditional narrow boat.
The rear deck has seating to port, a locker contains two gas bottles, and another the header tank for the cooling water. The Morse throttle control is located to port. The instrument panel is located on the bulkhead. A light is provided to light the rear deck in tunnels and to aid access at night. The rear door is secured by a lever lock and bolts on the sliding hatch. Deck boards lift giving access to the engine compartment and stern greaser.
Down steps into the rear cabin is the galley area, with cupboards, four burner gas hob, grill and oven, stainless steel sink, worktop space, and twelve volt refrigerator to port. To starboard there is a small folding shelf providing extra work space for the galley. Forward from this is a Squirrel solid fuel stove providing excellent heat for the rear part of the boat, with a fan to push warm air forward.
The galley leads to the dining area, an L-shaped dinette converting into a double berth. The dining area seats four comfortably and stools can extend this to six. A side hatch opposite can be closed, open, or become an extra window with a removable perspex sheet.
Forward to starboard is the main bathroom with pump-out toilet, wash basin on a vanity unit with storage beneath, and corner bath with shower. There is also an airing cupboard for storage of towels etc., next to the Alde gas central heating boiler. Accessible from the passage outside the bathroom, this provides heating to radiators and hot water via a calorifier, which is also heated by the engine providing plentiful hot water while cruising.
Next moving forward is the permanent double berth extendable from 4ft to 5 ft, with two large drawers beneath. Hanging space is provided in two small wardrobes at either end of the berth.
The saloon has two armchairs which convert to single berths, recently replaced, TV with DVD player, radio with CD player and cupboard beneath the TV. This is particularly useful for families as children can be put to bed earlier than the rest of the crew. In the corner is the door to an en-suite toilet and washbasin, accessible to the forward cabin or the permanent double berth. Full width fold back doors lead to the forward deck which has storage lockers for solid fuel, hose, cruising gear etc. There are locker top cushions for these. There is a cratch and cratch cover and the forward deck allows full height standing beneath the cratch.
