Booking system | A booking chart for the following calendar year is circulated in agreed priority order before the owners’ annual meeting, where the bookings for the next year are confirmed. Each owner has a priority for that year, and moves up a couple of places each year: after a year at the top of the list, the owner then starts at the bottom, and after six years the cycle begins again. Each owner can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight) in the ‘high season’ (April to October inclusive), and one week in the remainder of the year. By this route, thirty-six weeks are firmly booked before the year begins. Allowing for time for winter maintenance, the remaining fourteen weeks are booked with priority in reverse order to the original chart, so having last choice originally does have its compensations. These extra bookings are confirmed on the first day of the month before the month of the booking. |
Priority for school holidays | Three designated "special" shares have priority booking of school holiday weeks and pay a higher proportion of the costs than "ordinary" shares thus reducing the other nine shares contributions. |

General comments by vendor
We have been shareowners since 2015 and have thoroughly enjoyed our weeks on the boat.
There is nothing like being on the cut to help you slow down and unwind.
We have explored many beautiful areas of the country, including through lovely countryside and also through major cities. However, other commitments and priorities mean that it is now time for us to move on.
The other owners are a very friendly group of people. Solong is very well used but also meticulously serviced and well maintained.
Amongst the owners there is an impressive amount of knowledge and expertise, which ensures that holidays are carefree and there is always someone to give you some advice, should a problem arise.
Our hardworking chairperson has written a Little Book of Solong which details every aspect of how the boat works.
Solong is a very comfortable, cosy and warm boat with a multifuel stove and newly installed webasto heating system. Its current mooring allows easy access to a range of canals, rivers, countryside and towns. In our time on the boat, we have headed south to Oxford and the river Thames; west and north to the Avon and Severn; and north to Stratford Upon Avon and Birmingham, passing through very varied landscapes along the way.
There is always something to see on the canal.
