Booking systemA booking chart for the following calendar year is circulated in agreed priority order from
July each year. Each owner has  a priority for that year, and moves up a couple of places each
year: after a year at the top of the list the owner then starts  at the bottom, and after six
years the cycle begins again.

Each owner can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight) in the ‘high season’
(April to September inclusive), and one week  in the remainder of the year. By this route,
thirty-six weeks are  firmly booked before the year begins. Allowing for time for
winter maintenance, the remaining fourteen weeks are booked with priority in reverse
order to the original chart, so having last choice originally does have its compensations.
These extra  bookings are confirmed on the first day of the month before the month
of the booking.
Priority for school holidays Two owners have priority over others where they may choose their weeks ahead of the others
but MUST align their weeks to school holidays. These owners pay a premium of 25% on all the
running costs over and above the other owners for having this "special" option. If a share is for
sale it will state if this does or does not come with the school holiday option.

General Comments About the Boat

The Semi-Trad stern allows space for at least two people to accompany the steerer (without needing to perch on the gunwales and hold on tight) and there is raised level seating on the port side, this being storage for the gas bottles and engine coolant header tank. For those who need to sit at the helm, there is room for a folding ‘bar’ type stool opposite the control lever.

The engine is below the rear deck, along with a horizontal calorifier situated on the port swim and battery banks on the starboard swim. There are four domestic and one starter battery.

You enter the galley through the hatch/doorway and down the steps.

Immediately on the left is an L-shaped worktop with a Vanette four ring hob in dark green and a microwave oven at high level above.

Along the worktop there is an inset stainless steel sink unit with cupboards and a Fridge below the drainer. A newly fitted (2019) brushed  steel Thetford eye level oven and grill is located in a full height wall unit with drawer storage below.

There is a generous length of work surface with cupboards and fridge under and a wall cupboard above. Opposite the sink unit is a fold-down worktop, which provides even more workspace when required. The kitchen is well equipped with a full range of saucepans, utensils, cutlery and crockery.

Moving forwards again there are opening side doors and hatch in the port side and there is a transparent panel that can be used when the doors are open. There is a solid fuel Squirrel stove opposite, where it is ideally situated for heating the daytime living space.

The dinette table and seating is next. It can accommodate six utilising two stools and also converts to a ‘make-up’ double bed. There is locker space under the seating and a wall cupboard above with inset reading lights underneath.

Through a door, the corridor towards the bow is on the port side, passing the bathroom. This has a washbasin, toilet and corner bath with shower over. There is a radiator, airing cupboard, extractor fan and shaver socket.

Continuing along the corridor through another door, there is the main cabin with a full-length wardrobe, a cupboard housing the Alde central heating boiler, under-bed storage, high level cupboards and a radiator. The fixed double bed extends to king size utilising an extra cushion.

Through another door is the saloon with a full-length wardrobe immediately to starboard followed by a toilet and washbasin. There is a cupboard unit to starboard incorporating electric and aerial sockets with space for the TV, and then a fixed bench sofa/single bed either side of the central walkway. Both make full length berths, in one case utilising a lift-up flap and additional cushion. There is locker space under these benches and they can be combined to create a Super Kingsize double berth.

Beyond the benches is the front double glazed door and window unit, which has two doors and which will completely fold out when the weather permits. The well deck has storage lockers on each side which double as seats. There is a cratch and cover enclosing the well deck, which, unusually, has full headroom in the centre.

General comments by vendor

There is a contingency fund for Rowington and this usually has a healthy balance, meaning that unexpected expenditure is kept to a minimum. The new owner will benefit from this contingency fund.

We have had a share in Rowington for over four years now and have thoroughly enjoyed all the time we had spent on the boat. The syndicate of owners are a positive and supportive group of people who all have the same attitude to caring for Rowington, which is to keep it in the best possible condition, and this is reflected in the boat's overall appearance.

The boat has moved around the network in that time, and the owners have decided collectively where to take it next to enable all to benefit from exploring the canals in as many areas as possible.

Rowington holds many happy memories and I hope that a new owner will enjoy cruising on this boat as much as i have with my family.
