Booking system | Using a pre-agreed booking sequence each shareholder in turn has the opportunity to pick two summer (high) season weeks. After all shareholders have picked their peak weeks the off peak weeks are picked next, but using the reverse order. So, if you have last pick of high season weeks you will have first pick of low season weeks (and vice versa). This approach is repeated each year. Picking order also rotates so that each share will get a 'first pick' every ten years. This sequence has been captured in the syndicate agreement so it’s always possible to check where you’ll be in the booking sequence for future years. Guaranteed four weeks per year, other weeks available on a first come first served basis. |
Priority for school holidays | No such scheme on this boat |

General comments by vendor
Remote changeovers are also possible, by mutual agreement between shareholders.
As a self-managed syndicate we set our own monthly maintenance charges based on planned maintenance works and mooring fees for the coming year. These are currently £130 per 1/10th share (Correct 2025). Syndicate finance statements available on request.
Being only a 10-share syndicate has the advantage that the boat is generally winterised for Dec, Jan & Feb giving ample time for winter maintenance. It also allows the owners to avoid holidays during the traditional CRT winter stoppage programme. Whilst not a cast iron guarantee this does minimise the risk of wasted or lost holiday weeks.
We have had shares in Middlewood for four years and have enjoyed our time in the syndicate. In this time we have been based at a number of marinas: Gayton, Alvechurch, Heritage (Congleton) and Overwater. A move to the North Oxford is planned for summer 2025, subject to availability of moorings.
As a self-managed syndicate we meet annually to discuss all aspects of boat ownership, including mooring locations, monthly maintenance charges, planned maintenance, overall running costs etc. This is a good opportunity to meet and get to know your fellow shareholders, some of whom have been with the boat from new.
The monthly maintenance charges are reviewed annually and are calculated to cover: the forecast annual running costs; planned repairs or improvements; and to maintain a financial reserve. This financial reserve is used to cover any unexpected expenditure and is reviewed annually at the AGM. This approach allows us to manage repairs and maintenance effectively as well as giving a level of certainty to shareholders around the cost of ownership.
Middlewood was constructed in 2011 and is in good order, having recently benefitted from some internal works and minor paintwork repairs. A 2-pack epoxy hull coating is due to be applied during the summer of 2025, which will be paid for from reserve funds already held.
We also have a WhatsApp group for on the move communication and to help keep everyone updated with any issues or changes on the boat. We ask that a holiday report is completed after each holiday so that we can keep track of any developing issues and ensure that we get them attended to in a timely manner.
Whilst the holiday weeks for the following season are booked towards the end of the preceding one there is an opportunity to swap weeks by mutual consent. A booking sequence is contained within the syndicate agreement and covers a 10yr period.
