| Booking system | A booking chart for the following calendar year is circulated in the middle of the year. Each owner has a booking position for the current year and moves up 5 places each year. So if you are position 12 this year you will be position 7 next year, then position 2, then 9 etc. This means you rotate from low to medium to high in the chart over three years. Each owner can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight) in the ‘high season’ (April to October), and one week in the remainder of the year. By this route, thirty-six weeks are firmly booked before the year begins. Allowing for time for winter maintenance, the remaining fourteen weeks are booked with priority in reverse order to the original chart, so having last choice originally does have its compensations. |
| Priority for school holidays | Up to three shareholders may opt for "school holiday" preference shares (referred to as ‘Special’ shares), for which they pay a premium of 25% on the running costs each year, but get first choice of the school holiday weeks available. Currently (2026) there are two shares with this status on the boat. |
General Comments About the Boat
Hawksmoor has a semi-traditional rear deck with plenty of room for the helmsman plus two (and a dog!) and contains lockers with gas bottles, windlasses, mooring pins etc. Moveable deck boards give access to the engine bay, weed hatch and batteries.
The main bedroom has an en-suite (pump-out loo and wash basin with extractor fan) with a double bed (extendable to 5’), 2 large storage drawers beneath, cupboards above and a wardrobe.
Duvets and pillows for six are provided and are replaced regularly.
Beyond the privacy door is the Alde gas central heating boiler (concealed by the opened door), with radiators in master bedroom, main saloon and the bathroom. Further is the bathroom to the left with corner bath, shower and full width mirror, radiator, wash basin, pump-out loo, storage cupboards and extractor fan.
Next is the galley which has a good area of worktop, numerous cupboards, gas oven, grill and hob, electric fridge with ice box, microwave and ceiling extractor fan. A glass-fronted see-through cabinet is also fixed to the ceiling. A good range of crockery and cooking utensils are provided, plenty for a crew of six. There is a larger 12 volt freezer under the dinette.
A large side hatch off the galley, with removable perspex screen, prevents overheated cooks on fine days.
Moving further towards the bow is the dinette; with removable, extending full size table (for 6 people) or alternative half size table (for 2) The dinette extends to a double bed (new mattress cushions 2025) and incorporates a wardrobe, storage space under, and a the freezer.
The saloon has a double sofa-bed and a ‘modesty’ curtain. There is a flat-screen digital TV with DVD, automotive style CD/AM/FM radio and 4 (adjustable) speakers throughout the boat. For additional heating there is a solid fuel stove. Wi-Fi router for internet connectivity and television (New 2026).
The full width, folding French-window style doors lead to the well deck which has a seating area (with optional table) and three lockers for hoses, coal, mops etc. and the brass water tank filler cap. There is a bow-thruster down there as well.
There is a cordless vacuum cleaner

The share on offer here is at position 12 in the 2026 rotation so will be at position 7 next year
Hawksmoor was one of the first of the 'New Generation' boats commissioned by OwnerShips in 2005, and as a result is of a very high specification.
A Reeves-built 10/6/4mm steel construction vessel, fitted-out by Milburn Boats, with a Betamarine diesel engine and hydraulic bow thrusters.
She has a semi-traditional stern and a mid galley layout. Gas central heating to radiators and a solid fuel stove. Water heating by gas boiler and by engine (calorifier) Two drop-through, pump-out fresh water WCs. 12-volt lighting (LED bulbs throughout) and 240-volt AC supplied by inverter or hook up. Fully lined curtains to all windows and blinds in kitchen and bathroom. Carpet tiles to all areas (new in 2025) and vinyl flooring to kitchen and bathroom (new in 2024). Light maple T&G timber and veneered panels.
Hawksmoor is very light and airy with good use of recessed and spot lighting.
Hawksmoor is owned and self-managed by an established, friendly and successful syndicate who are collectively committed to maximising the enjoyment of the boat to the benefit of all owners. There is a mixture of owners from young to old and the group includes both long-time owners and relative newcomers. The syndicate members are all very friendly and keep in regular contact throughout the year, via a WhatsApp group and email.
Two of our owners have hosted an AGM in November (which can be attended by Zoom when necessary) where democratic decisions are taken regarding any work to be done on the boat and any change of mooring location.
Hawksmoor is moving to Great Haywood Marina for 2026. This is a good location for holiday boating on the system, being centrally located at the junction of the Trent & Mersey and Staffs & Worcs Canals, and offering various cruising routes. It also has on-site engineering facilities to assist with maintenance and turnarounds.
