General Comments About the Boat
Built by Alexander Boat builders (10/6/4 steel plate), with a Blue Haven Marine fit-out and traditionally decorated by the famous canal artist, Ron Hough.
Entering from the semi-traditional stern (with cushioned seating) there is a fixed one-poster bed and a Corian vanity unit, with mirror, in the master cabin. An over-bed unit contains a radio and reading lights. Alongside is a large double wardrobe. There is also good storage under the bed.
An en-suite toilet compartment is adjoining, followed by a door to separate the sleeping compartments up at night.
Beyond this door is a further shelved wardrobe, followed by the main bathroom containing a second WC, Corian vanity unit and thermostatic shower.
Next is the ‘Hough’ decorated side-doors and galley with eye-level gas double-oven, four-burner hob, sink, cupboards, worktops and microwave.
A lift-up flap creates additional worktop space and a serving area for dining.
The kitchen worktops and sink have all recently been refitted out in Corian.
The galley is also equipped with quality cooking equipment and utensils.
On from this is the dining area which can seat six and converts into a double bed.
Next is the lounge where the settee converts into another double bed. The two doubles are separated by a curtain. A solid-fuel Morso stove is in the forward corner of the cabin and a flat-screen TV, radio and DVD player are within the unit opposite. Behind this unit is a third hanging wardrobe.
The bow cratch contains the anchor, water hoses, teak garden chairs, etc and has removable triangle boards for forward-facing windows.
The whole cratch area has a removable zipped cover for security and weather protection.
A square table can be installed in the centre of the well deck for al fresco dining. In the bow locker are the gas bottles for central heating, hot water and cooking.
The boat has full central heating (radiators) and a powerful inverter provides mains power to 240V sockets throughout the boat.

General comments by vendor
After a trip, owners are expected to undertake simple cleaning tasks and some very basic maintenance. Further, the marina can provide very good valet services.
Winter maintenance and repairs are contracted out; the costs are included in the monthly charge. All foreseeable running and maintenance costs are included in the monthly charge which is reviewed annually at the AGM. The only additional costs to owners are diesel, coal and pump-outs when onboard (gas is paid from syndicate funds).
The AGM is held each June there, the owners agree on the finances, engineering and operational issues and draw & swap weeks for the coming year.
Conqueror normally stays at a base for two or three years and will continue to explore the canal network for the benefit for all owners.
Conqueror has been fully maintained throughout. There have been a load of improvements over the years; probably the most significant was a second complete external re-paint which was completed in March 2018 by Oxon Boat Painters. Of the six traditionally decorated doors, four have been retained as painted by renowned canal artist Ron Hough in 2008. Minor weathering was meticulously restored in 2024.
Other enhancements have been:
• Corian worktops and sinks fitted to the galley, bathroom basin unit and vanity unit in the bedroom (2022)
• New Morso Squirrel solid fuel stove (2018)
• Both toilet pump-out tanks replaced with new (2023)
• New smart battery management system installed
• Newly fitted refurbished Alde central heating boiler (2019)
• New soft furnishings (2019)
• New cratch cover (2018), refurbished (2023)
• Sound-proofing to the engine space and a hospital silencer fitted
• Bow thruster overhauled (2023), and a weed hatch was installed for the bow-thruster to enable maintenance whilst afloat
• Drinking water gauge installed
• LED lighting installed throughout
• Thermostatic anti-frost heating system for unoccupied weeks in the winter
• Hull survey carried out (2023)
• New Pro-Cook pans (2023)
