General Comments About the Boat
Evening Shadow has the capacity to accommodate 8 people in 4 separate private cabins but is easily managed by 2 people.
In the bow the front cabin is fitted with twin single beds in a V configuration with storage underneath and a small wardrobe. Separate reading lights are provided over each bed.
Leading from the front cabin, there is a passage way with a separate cabin with bunk beds and wardrobes on the starboard side and a shower room and toilet on the port side. Both this toilet and the rear cabin en suite toilet are the sealed pump out type.
A small flight of steps leads to the main saloon area and driving position. This is fitted with fixed seating including a settee which converts to a double bed. The table is stowed away behind the driving seat when not in use. The driving position on the port side has its own seat and is slightly raised to afford good visibility all round. There is a sliding hatch alongside and above the driving position to allow easy escape to assist mooring etc. The controls are simple to operate basically comprising a steering wheel, 'Morse' style single handle speed controller and bow thruster.
There is a comprehensive set of necessary instrumentation and minor switches. The boat has a shore supply system allowing electrical power and battery charging from power points provided at various mooring point on the Broads and in the home marina. An inverter provides 240v power when the engine is running or from the domestic batteries when moored away from a power supply. Heating is provide by a Webasto diesel heater blowing hot air to the saloon and cabins.
The saloon and all bedrooms are carpeted, and curtained and also fitted with LED lights. The saloon roof can be slid back by a winch mechanism to open up the whole saloon area. There is a TV /DVD player in the saloon. Sound proofed hatches in the saloon floor give access to the diesel engine and weed filters.
From the saloon, another small flight of steps leads down to the galley area which uses the full width of the boat and is fitted with a full size gas oven, grill and 4 burner hob. There is a sink with hot and cold water and a separate filtered drinking water tap. Water from the 100 gallon water tank is heated by the engine or by an immersion heater when on shore supply. There is also a 12v fridge, a microwave oven, toaster and electric kettle, and all crockery, glasses cooking equipment etc sufficient for everyone on board. The galley has a laminated wooden style flooring.
From the galley area we enter the rear cabin with fixed double bed, ensuite shower room and wardrobe. The double doors from the rear cabin lead to the rear 'pushpit' area where the gas bottles are stored in a separate enclosure.
