|A booking chart for the following calendar year is
circulated in agreed priority order, typically starting
about June. SUBJECT TO the rules about Special Shares
(please see below), each owner has a priority for that year,
and moves up broadly a couple of places each year, as part of a
(To be precise, they swap places annually with the share next
to them, as the pair move together up the list except
from 1 year out of 6).
After a year at the top of the list, the pair goes to the bottom
for the next year, to start the 12-year cycle again. Each owner
can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight) in the
‘high season’ (April to September inclusive), as well
as one week in the remainder of the year.
Once this process is complete for all shares, owners then
may choose a fourth week if they wish, but this is done in
REVERSE order so that those who got last choice for their
first three weeks get first choice for their fourth.
Typically two weeks are allowed for winter maintenance.
Any remaining weeks, plus any that arise during the year if
original share-owners cannot use them, are available for other
syndicate members to bid for: priority is again given in order
from the BOTTOM (like the fourth weeks), except that once
one week has been claimed in this round the
winner drops their priority for any more.
|Priority for school holidays
|A maximum of two owners may have "Special"
(or school holiday) shares which gives them priority
They may choose their first three weeks
ahead of the others, but MUST align their weeks to
their school holidays only. These owners pay more
towards the running costs each year for having
this "privilege" where the figure is presently £300 pa.
You can relinquish your school holiday status in any
year as long as the booking chart for the subsequent
year has not been completed by you.
General Comments About the Boat
Starting at the large cruiser stern with its "dodger", new in 2023, to improve safety from unplanned swims and comfort from the elements.
Most of the dodger hides objects left on the deck but there are small clear windows so small ones (pets or children) can see out.
The flooring boards give access to the Nanni 2.2 litre diesel engine and its ancillaries and to the prop shaft and the batteries. A removeable flooring board gives access to the weed-hatch.
As well as having engine controls and instruments the rear deck has a fitting for 240-volt shore power attachment.
Down a few steps to the saloon where there is a two-seater bed-settee, made to measure, 2 corner units, one housing the circuit-breakers and one with a TV and DVD-player on top and a radio. There are 2 stools as extra seating.
Easy to clean Amtico flooring and doormat.
A full-height curtain and the wood or coal -burning stove can give privacy from the adjoining L-shaped convertible dinette which has 2 possible table arrangements, the tables being stored along one wall when not in use. Large radiator.
The floor has carpet tiles. The dinette is elevated for better views. There is a pull-out 12v chest freezer. Storage availability is a large cupboard under the cushions and also a wardrobe at low level and a glass cabinet at high level separating the dinette from the galley.
The galley is U-shaped and has a 12 v under-counter Shoreline fridge with a small ice box, a 4 -burner gas hob, separate oven, and eye-level grill and a 240v microwave.
The worktop has fiddles to keep items from falling off when the boat suddenly stops or is struck. Stainless steel sink/ drainer.
All other space is used for storage in drawers and cupboards, with rotating shelves to maximise storage and accessibility in the corners.
The galley is fully stocked with crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and some cleaning materials. Flooring is Amtico and there is a 2-door side-hatch, which can be left open or closed or covered by a Perspex cover; there are shallow shelves beneath. There is an extractor fan and second hopper window.
Next is a corridor with carpet tiles on the floor and with the bathroom off.
Refurbished in 2019, the bathroom has a full height, quadrant-type shower unit, wash basin with mixer taps on a granite shelf, with a cupboard under and wall mirrors over, pump-out WC, a further built-in cupboard, and extractor fan. Easy-clean amtico flooring and a radiator. Obscured opening window plus an opening window in the corridor.
The corridor continues- there is a door across the corridor, then the ensuite toilet on the left. This has a second dump-through pump-out WC and a small hand basin. This room is also used for general storage.
Next is the Master Bedroom.
There is a double bed on a slatted base. This can be extended if desired by a removable bolster to 5 ft width. Underneath is the pump-out tank (one tank for both toilets), and drawers. More cupboards are overhead, fitted with reading lights underneath. There is a large radiator. At the foot of the bed, there is a wardrobe above a chest storage area, used at present for the vacuum cleaner. There is a large radiator and carpet-tile flooring.
Beyond the bed there is a single step forming a storage box which can be removed to give access to storage space under the fore-deck, used for the relatively infrequently-used items such as the anchor and light-weight chairs for outdoor use.
Above the step are double doors leading to the Fore-deck.
This has lockers for two 13kg gas bottles, one on either side of the door and seating above the lockers and beyond them, with lockers for the water hose, mooring pins etc. The water tank can be inspected by opening a cover in the bow. The filler is on the starboard side in the bow. There are fittings for 240v shore power to be attached at the bow as well as the stern.
The bow thrusters are of the powerful hydraulic type.

General comments by vendor
Our share was 5th in order of priority for bookings for 2024. This will move to position 3 (out of 12) for 2024 and to position 2 for 2026. Up to 2 school holiday shares can take precedence but their choices for the first 3 weeks are limited to the dates of their school holidays. At present one owner has asked to have a school holiday share for bookings for 2025.
Charges for 2024 have not yet been recommended by the treasurer so I have given the actual costs for 2023 as £100 pcm, which includes management fees. The treasurer holds a reserve in the bank account for high-cost items e.g. major refurbishments. Currently this is at £500 per share. The advertised share price includes this share of the bank balance.
Castleber has been comfortable and easy to manage with a reliable engine, powerful bow thrusters and Webasto or solid fuel heating,
that allow 4 season cruising.
The AGM has been in November each year mostly in person, with the option of having another owner to use your vote as your proxy.
Meetings were by zoom during Covid.
Owners are encouraged to make agreed improvements within their capabilities and experience but they are not presurised to do so.
