Booking system
For booking purposes the 12 shares are arranged in 6 pairs,
with the top 2 having first pick after any “special” shareholder.
Each year the chart for the following calendar year is circulated
by the bookings coordinator.

Each pair of shares is allocated a priority for that year in
descending order and then moves up a couple of places
the following year: after a year at the top of the list,
the owner then starts at the bottom.
The whole cycle takes 6 years.

Each owner can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight)
in the ‘high season’ and one week in the remainder of the year.
High season varies from year to year depending on Easter dates ,
and is notified by the bookings coordinator, thus assisting a
“special” shareholder to book school holiday weeks .
By this route, thirty-six weeks are firmly booked before the year begins.

Allowing for time for winter maintenance, the remaining fourteen
weeks are booked with priority in reverse order to the original
chart so having last choice does have its compensations.

If an owner is unable to use their week(s) it is offered to
all owners via our bookings coordinator on first come first served basis
Priority for school holidaysA maximum of three special shares are available, giving these
owners priority to pick weeks in school holidays.

They contribute a premium of 25% over normal shareholders
 running costs for this.

There is currently one special shareholder, so converting
an ordinary share to special status is possible. (Correct 2025)

General Comments About the Boat

Cheddington, part of the former Ownerships fleet was built to last in 2000 on a Graham Reeves hull with a John Milburn fit out.

The semi trad rear deck has room for the helmsman + 2 and has storage lockers with seating over for mooring pins, windlasses etc and 2 gas bottles.

Removable deckboards with sound insulation fitted underneath gives a very quiet engine sound.

Steps down over the Victron inverter leads to the en-suite cloakroom and the master bedroom, there are carpet tiles to all areas of the boat.

The fixed double bed can be extended to 5 feet and has ample storage underneath, cupboards above and a wardrobe with additional cupboard space.

Beyond the privacy door is the Alde boiler providing hot water for 4 central heating radiators with thermostatic valves, and the main bathroom with corner bath with shower over, wash basin and new loo.

Next comes the well - equipped galley with new gas oven/ grill and hob, fridge, microwave and many storage cupboards. A good range of crockery and cooking utensils are provided, plenty for a crew of six.

There is a side hatch opposite the galley, ideal for hot days and for feeding the ducks.

Moving forward is the dinette, an L shaped settee and removable table, catering for up to 6 people using the 2 stools. This converts to a comfortable double bed with storage underneath for bedding, and a modesty curtain.

The saloon, which can be separated from the rest of the boat by a curtain, has 2 armchairs, convertible into single beds and ideal for children or grandchildren.

There is another wardrobe with drawers under, hanging space a flat screen TV and radio and a very efficient solid fuel stove. Folding doors lead to the well deck with three large lockers and seating over,

General comments by vendor

Cheddington is a newly painted, well maintained, and friendly self-managed boat.

Recent improvements include new cooker and gas hob, new fridge, new batteries, new WC and the afore-mentioned repaint.

She is regularly serviced and running repairs/replacements addressed as and when they arise.

2025 is not a typical year finance wise because In February 2025 she had a complete back to bare metal repaint. It was decided to do away our former artwork depicting the great train robbery which took place near the village of Cheddington in Buckinghamshire to give a more uncluttered look and replaced rear deck-boards and locker-tops, painted the water tank, and revarnished the interior window frames and portholes.

At the same time, an insurance led marine survey was carried out resulting in remedial welding and over plating work to areas not usually visible. In total, work to the value of over £25,000 was completed. Invoices and inspection reports are available.

We have a dedicated chatroom and WhatsApp group for news and general discussion, and hold our annual owners meeting in October/ November each year, meeting for lunch to discuss and plan for any future work required over the winter and to review our current mooring. This gives everyone a voice in the running of the boat.

We aim to move to a new marina every few years by majority vote, making new areas and routes available.

We have a chairman, bookings coordinator, treasurer maintenance coordinator and boat secretary and between ourselves have managed all aspects of the boat since Ownership’s demise thus saving on management fees.
