Booking system | All shares move in rotation annually on a booking rota. Holidays are booked in order of position on the rota. Each year shares move up the rota in pairs and the top two shares fall to the bottom. Bookings for the following year normally start in the summer, and are confirmed at the annual AGM, normally each autumn. The booking system has recently been modified to take account of the relocation to Canal du Midi, and the longer season that is available in South of France. Each shareholder can choose one 3 week block in the high season, or one 2 week block in the high season and one 2 week block in the low season, or two 2 week blocks in the low season. (If the boat reverts to Burgundy area in the future, it is likely that the old booking system will be re-installed i.e. 2 consecutive weeks in high season and 1 in low season.) |
Priority for school holidays | Two shares are designated as "special" and have priority booking for school holidays. |

During 2019-2021, as a result of Covid restrictions, there has been an opportunity to undertake some major refurbishment and maintenance work on the boat, including hull re-paint (10 year guarantee), repaint of superstructure, deck and walkways plus servicing of hydraulic system and re-alignment of prop shaft and rudder system. Other routine work has also been carried out such as battery replacement.
Derrineel is now in the glorious Canal MIDI at Castelnaudary with rich cruising grounds in the south of France. There is so much to offer on this stunning canal. From Narbonne to Carcassonne up through the canal towards Toulouse and beyond in the direction of Bordeaux is perfect for cruising on Derrineel which together with easy access from road, rail and air make this a unique and special holiday destination.
The 4 weeks already booked are perfect timing to be on the canal, 9th – 23rd March and 8th- 22nd June 2024.
Warm breezes and long hours of sunshine from the Mediterranean provide very happy cruising or staying put to drink up the surroundings.
Friends and family who love the accommodation and comfort Derrineel provides.
Derrineel is entirely managed by its owners. Owners have different boating skills and experiences, and where possible maintenance work is undertaken "in house".
There are 3 elected officers, from amongst the owners, who manage the day to day issues on the boat - Bosun, Secretary and Accountant Derrineel has recently had the annual AGM which has agreed minor maintenance for the forthcoming year, annual fees, officers being re-elected, the location of the MIDI plus holiday booking rota ratified.. It is anticipated that Derrineel will remain on Midi for a couple of seasons and then owners will decide whether to return to Burgundy or remain for a further period on the Midi.
This is a reluctant sale due to an unexpected change in circumstances – we are sure whoever buys this share will have many happy times on Derrineel.
