Tickey is not a long boat, but very manoeuvrable in tight spaces.
Very useful when there is little room to tie up, turn around or or
in locks where you have to be careful with the rear end. As a lone
female I had help once going through a lock and the man remarked how
responsive she was and nice to handle.
The 2 living and sleeping areas are divided by the shower room and
toilet and by the kitchen which has a fridge, cooker and hot running
water if needed.
At the stern end there is a bunk which will convert to a small double
bed and a wood burning stove and oak table which can be opened up
for dining. There are small wooden steps to get outside.
At the stern there are 2 bunk beds, one can be converted to a
hammock which would be great fun for a child. There is also a small
area for hanging coats.
There are 2 gas bottles outside at the stern - one in use, the other
the reserve. The cooker is run by gas and the hot water by
electricity from the batteries.
It is a functional little boat, but great fun, when in use there are
so many lovely places to visit and see.
Last September, 2 girlfriends, my dog and I used her in the
Derbyshire area. Our days were spent travelling and in the evenings
we would tie up at one of the many canal pubs, have a meal, a drink
and a chat with the friendly locals. 'Canal' people are always so
friendly and helpful.
