Each year at the AGM each share draws a winter, spring, summer and autumn week.  Then swaps take place and usually everyone is accommodated. If a week becomes available because someone cannot use it, then it is advertised to all on the group website and allocated on a first come first served basis.  There is no limit to the number of weeks that a shareholder may use under these circumstances.
Special holiday arrangements
There are no special school holiday shares but this is taken into account when swaps are arranged and school holidays are usually accommodated.

It has a traditional stern with throttle wheel and gear handle controls and tiller steering. The rear cabin is a boatman's cabin with a cross bed and side bed, and a hand basin hidden in a cupboard.

The engine room houses a Lister Diesel and gives a space for wet coats and so forth. There are side hatches in the engine room.

The master cabin has a 4' 6'' cross bed with sprung mattress, drawers under and shelves over. There is vanity unit and a wardrobe cupboard housing the gas boiler for the central heating. This is a really cosy cabin.

In the corridor is a storage cupboard for essentials such as cleaning materials and then the shower room. The shower room holds a vanity unit, pump-out toilet and shower cubicle with sliding door.

The next cabin holds two bunks, with a wardrobe and vanity unit.

The galley is well designed, u shaped with sufficient storage and work space. There is a full size cooker, fridge and microwave and a full inventory. Opposite the galley is a side hatch.

The dinette is raised to allow for seeing out of the windows, and converts to a double bed.

The saloon holds a three seater sofa and two pouffes for extra seating. There is a second table that can be used with the sofa to give extra eating space or a coffee table.

The well deck has a cratch cover.

This 8% (4 weeks) ownership is in a wonderful, quality traditional narrow boat called Norfolk If you have seen it you will know it has beautiful much admired lines. She was built originally by Norton Keynes who were the very best of builders at the time. She has been in shared ownership under the Challenger name until recently for most of her life and therefore is very well maintained. 70 foot long she steers as a proper narrow boat should. Starting from the rear you enter an original boatmans cabin decorated in scumbling and sleeping two including a sink and storage. Proceeding forward to the engine room which houses one of the best and most reliable traditional engines, a Lister JP 3, which has just been overhauled. There are two side access doors here and traditional roof vents. Next and throughout all of the boats you will note the new channel glaze windows but also the main bedroom with folding cross bed and a sink and wardrobe which also houses the eberspacher water heater. The next door bathroom includes shower, sink and toilet. A two bedded bunk room big enough for adults but very good for kids comes next and leads into the well equipped kitchen with a side access door for those best of summer evenings. Leading into a raised diner which also doubles as a bed at night and finally into the large lounge which has a full size settee for comfort. Also in this room is the wood burner if you prefer that to the central heating.

Then to the front cratch covered area with glass panels in the cratch for more light on those less than sunny days. The syndicate is very stable and is self managed so that keeps the costs down.

We meet up once per year and often make that into a very nice social occasion.
