Syndicate of 13 owners, 12 own 8% share each (giving
4 weeks guaranteed a year) and 1 owns 4% (giving 2 weeks a year) remaining 2
weeks used for Winter Maintenance each year.
The Syndicate is self managed with 2 owners being elected as managers, one
the Syndicate Manager and the other the Financial Manager, both of whom have
to sign cheques for mooring fees, maintenance, insurance etc...
Sleeps 6 in 3 separate cabins:
2 Single in forward Cabin with en-suite bathroom.
1 Double rear Cabin with shared en-suite bathroom.
2 Singles (head to head) in rear starboard Cabin.
Can accommodate an additional person on settee seat in lounge.
Has additional separate Shower Room with heated Towel Rail.
Lightning is moored and maintained to a high standard by Brooms of Brundall,
on the Norfolk Broads. The mooring provides a members shower/toilet block
(with own key), water, pumpouts, mains shore power, and vehicle parking.
There is also a small waterside general/fishing store adjacent to the
marina. The marina is next to Brundall railway station so very convenient
for travel to/from Norwich or Great Yarmouth.
Change over day is Saturday after 2pm. Owners must leave the boat clean by
11:00 on the Saturday to give Brooms time to undertake turnaround
maintenance before next owner arrives.
Pets can be taken aboard but special care must be taken when cleaning to
ensure that no hair is left on board.
Lightning is 'no smoking on board'.
Each year an AGM is held at which 4 weeks are drawn, 1 from each quarter,
from a hat, and then owners are at liberty to swap their weeks with each
other as they wish, thereby changing weeks not required for a week that one
can use, and giving the opportunity for those with children to get school
holidays.
At an AGM, expected 21st June, the next 4 quarter dates will be selected for
2009.
An owner can offer to swap any of their weeks with other owners via the
syndicate manager. If at a late date an owner finds that they cannot use
their week, and no one else volunteers a swap, then the syndicate manager
will offer the boat to others in the syndicate with no charge, other than
paying for the 2 toilet pump outs and diesel used during their week on the
boat.
Running Costs per annum:
Currently this runs at less than £1000 per annum made up as follows:
£283 is paid twice a year to cover the Mooring, Licence, Insurance,
Turnaround, Servicing, Breakdowns & Repairs, Inventory Replacements,
Miscellaneous, Petty Cash and Gas. The 2 syndicate Managers do not pay these
charges; it is considered to be their remuneration for running the
syndicate.
Winter Maintenance and any Call out charges are paid for separately, and
this year have been budgeted at £282, paid by all owners. The Winter
Maintenance will ensure that Lightning is removed from the water, and any
damage to the hull or superstructure will be cleaned and repaired, together
with such work considered necessary to ensure smooth running for the next
year.
Additionally at the AGM, if sufficient owners vote to add anything to
Lightning (for example: Sailing Dingy, new Fridge etc..) then the cost of
the item/s voted for would be shared between all owners.
