General Comments by vendor |

|
An unusual five-share boat,
Harlequin owners are guaranteed 6 weeks cruising during the
cruising season. As a self managed boat the owners meet for
an Annual General Meeting at the end of the cruising season
to determine the package of work to be undertaken over the
winter period and to discuss the annual maintenance
requirements. The owners elect a Chairman, Secretary,
Treasurer and Engineering Manager to coordinate the various
requirements. With the owners carrying out as much of the
maintenance work as is within the capabilities of the group
the cost overhead is kept to a minimum. Annual running costs
per share for the 2011 season was £1200.
Decisions at the AGM are taken on a majority vote basis and this includes the mooring location. The boat is usually relocated every 2-3 years to a different marina to explore different parts of the canal network. Any expenditure in excess of £3,000 must be fully endorsed by all shares. The owners of the boat must agree to abide by the terms of a Shared Ownership Agreement. An electronic copy of the agreement is available on request. A new engine was fitted 3 years ago. The roof will have a bare metal repaint as part of the winter works (2011/12). The remaining external surfaces will require repainting probably at the end of 2012. Other than the partial repainting there are no other significant expenditures in the pipeline. We have enjoyed 5 years of shared ownership boating with Harlequin and are now seeking to purchase a slightly shorter boat to share with one of the other Harlequin owners. |
