|Booking System||A booking chart for the following calendar year is circulated in agreed priority order from July each year. Each owner has a priority for that year, and moves up a couple of places each year: after a year at the top of the list the owner then starts at the bottom, and after six years the cycle begins again. Each owner can choose two weeks (separately or as a fortnight) in the ‘high season’ (April to September inclusive), and one week in the remainder of the year. By this route, thirty-six weeks are firmly booked before the year begins. Allowing for time for winter maintenance, the remaining fourteen weeks are booked with priority in reverse order to the original chart, so having last choice originally does have its compensations. These extra bookings are confirmed on the first day of the month before the month of the booking.|
|Priority for school holidays||Three owners have priority over others where they may choose their weeks ahead of the others but MUST align their weeks to school holidays. These owners pay a premium of 25% on all the running costs over and above the other owners for having this "special" option.|

General Comments by vendor
Apperley is an excellent narrow boat, well fitted out and maintained to a very high standard from new. She is modern, with a light, attractive open layout. She has an efficient central heating system and a solid fuel fire, which makes her ideal for comfortably cruising at any time of the year.
Apperley has a pleasing exterior often admired by other boaters. In Jan 2013 she had new paintwork on the roof, handrail, gunwales and rear deck counter. In each of these areas, the boat was taken back to bare metal before having a professional paint job including primer, undercoat and top coat. Non-slip additive was used in all step areas. The gunwales were painted in Andy Russell's matt black gunwale paint. In Nov 2013, as part of a comprehensive winter maintenance programme, she had new sign writing undertaken. Apperley is taken out of the water and blacked annually.
The syndicate members on Apperley are all very friendly and keep in regular contact throughout the year. An AGM is held towards the end of the year where democratic decisions are taken regarding any work to be done on the boat and any change of mooring location. All share holders are concerned with maintaining high standards on the boat. On vacating Apperley the boat is always left in spotless condition, reflecting the care given by all using her.
Apperley is managed very efficiently by BCBM Ltd using a very transparent financial management system, so you see accounts monthly and know exactly what has been spent and when - which is very reassuring. BCBM are responsible for arranging maintenance at turn around, ensuring that Apperley is always in good order and ready to cruise.
We have now enjoyed many holidays on Apperley and made lasting friendships amongst the syndicate. Our time on board has inspired us to buy our own narrow boat and it is therefore with very mixed feelings that we have put our share up for sale.
