Beaulieu is a lovely
boat with a distinctive contemporary colour scheme which
is well maintained and has a friendly group of
co-owners. The ideal set up for someone looking for a
share syndicate small in size but with a very generous
annual allocation of potential cruising weeks.
It is a Private syndicate so no external management
fees.
Beaulieu was first commissioned in July 2007. The Safety
Certificate was renewed in 2011 and the hull was blacked
in Spring 2011, previously having been blacked in
November 2008.
Beaulieu has a reverse layout with the galley at the
stern and the fixed bedroom at the bow. The syndicate
members prefer this arrangement since the working end of
the boat is focused at the rear deck and allows easy
contact with the galley whilst
cruising. A more sociable and practical arrangement.
The current home mooring is at Crick marina (one mile
from Junction 18 M1) on the Leicester Section of the
Grand Union Canal. Well located at the hub of the
Midlands canal network and offering good access to the
rest of the canal network. This location provides
excellent choices for cruising programmes and many of
the syndicate have used 'piggy-backs' whereby they have
changed over somewhere on the system instead of
returning to base.
The boat is ideally suited to couples that occasionally
invite guests aboard rather than families with
youngsters.
All of the co-owners are experienced helmsmen and any new
‘novice’ member joining the group would be advised to enrol
on a boat-handling course before taking Beaulieu to the
water.
